The 11th edition of the National Career Exhibition, be held from February 25 to 27 at Expo Centre Sharjah, will be packed with several new features this time, it was announced at a press conference on Wednesday (Feb 18).

The show will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi.

'More than 100 exhibitors are taking part in the show, which is a nearly 25% increase in the number of participants compared to the previous show held in 2008,' said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa. The previous edition of the show featured nearly 80 exhibitors and attracted 10,529 visitors.

'Most major local and international banks that have a presence in the country will be taking part in the show. The UAE being a financial hub in the region, several major international financial institutions have their branches and offices in the country. They too will be showcasing the career opportunities available with them at the show,' said Mr. Midfa.

Recognising the key role played by higher education and career-oriented training in the job market, a new pavilion for higher education will be launched at this year's show.

'The higher education pavilion titled Edu'09 will help students choose programmes that will lead them to a successful career,' said Mr. Midfa.

The pavilion will feature leading universities from Syria, Egypt, Jordan and several other countries, apart from UAE-based colleges and universities. 'It will showcase higher educational courses and other continued educational programmes in a variety of disciplines to UAE graduates,' said Mr. Midfa.

The National Career Exhibition is being organised by Expo Centre Sharjah in association with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Human Resources Development Committee in the Banking Sector, and Emirates Institute for the Banking and Financial Studies.

'With strong emphasis on Emiratisation, and continuing the focus on all-round development, EIBFS has been a driving force to ensure better, improved and result-oriented HR policies in the banking sector. The Institute has been successful in redefining the role of education and training in the Emiratisation efforts,' said Mr. Jassmi.

'The National Career Exhibition will play a key role in supporting the Emiratisation drive and at the same time offer the banking and financial sector well educated and trained manpower,' Mr. Jassmi added.

HR representatives of local and international banks will be at hand to explain the benefits of a career in the banking sector and the opportunities that await Emirati graduates.

Additional features like workshops, symposia, counselling and discussion sessions to be held during the exhibition will help prospective job-seekers choose their right career at the right institution.
